any Ford Childress update?

  • ...or is his punishment yet to be determined by Boss Holgs? I wonder if, on the legal side, anything has happened?

Umm, he is not going to be kicked off the team. He's going to get the basic punishment for a DUI through the legal system, which is usually a suspended license and alcohol classes maybe community service.

As for team punishment, he missed a practice or two which is some punishment, I'm guessing he'll end up with some extra conditioning as well.

He wasn't allowed to play in, or even be on the sidelines for, the spring game. I'm sure that was part of the punishment, along with however many times he has to count the steps up the bleachers or law school hill. That along with the legal ramifications is probably sufficient, unless Dana feels he needs to suspend him for some of fall camp.

Re nothing coming out, this staff seems to keep internal team discipline more private than their predecessors.

That's totally unfair to say about Millard. However, no way is Ford getting kicked off the team.

  • Ive only read to good things about milliard. Spavital always has good things to say about him.

  • I don't believe the exacts will every be officially release, in fact I'm sure they wont. I will say that as long as Ford does the things he needs to he will be part of the team this fall.........and I assume in pretty good shape from all the steps he has been running.

Agreed. I remember when Adam Bednarik was next in line and starting, got hurt, and some guy that other schools wanted as a db got the job, Pat White. Not that Millard is PW, but one never knows.

I also agree, Millard has done everything you could ask on and off the field. He didn't run away from the completion like the last couple of QB'S"s

    Navagator

  • He didnt run away bc he had no where to run, brunitti started at ole miss, millard isnt starting at any big 6 schools. Im sry I jus dnt see it in him, thank god ford is taking over nxxt yr

I understand and fully expect Ford to start next year. But at the same time, I'm not ready to thank God just yet, or throw Paul under the bus either.

Same page again, rlniland, +1. I know some of the int's Paul threw last year and in the spring game were pretty ugly, but for a young kid, has made alot of nice throws as well. He may never have a cannon arm, (although lets see how a college weight training program plays out), but he is smart, confident, not cocky, and will learn from his mistakes. Holgerson praised him for his ability to forget a bad play, because in this game, those who dwell on the past will live there. Especially at the QB postition a short memory is an enviable attribute. Lets not be too hasty to judge this young kid, now in his second year of the system. Spavital runs a drill where the QB's throw fades into a net in the corner of the endzone, and according to Jake, Paul kills Geno every time.

Spot on assessment bill. Way to early to give up on him, especially considering his coaches/mentors.

This. We have not seen enough of either one to make a call on success vs failure. He's on the roster, under a coaching staff that knows QBs. I do not believe he would even get on the field if they felt he didn't have potential for success.

    tntWVU

  • Ummm he WONT get on the field, the only reason he played last yr is so geno would have a chanve to get hurt, and look at the orange bowl, geno got taking out bc we were killing them and they put millard in, does horrible and he gets bbenched, when do u ever see a backup get pulled when yourr up however much we were up.at the time, coaches have zero confidence in him, idk how many touchdowns he ended up with, but I kno at least 1 was against bowling green and it was jus a bomb in the endzone to bradd starks

    bam4wvu

  • So geno wouldnt get hurt^
