Don't like the new rule because it is too much of a judgement call

Read this earlier on ESPN, not really sure this is the solution. Before too long everyone is going to be more afraid to hit and tackle, and we wonder why every team is scoring 50 to 70 points a game.

I think it should only e called if a player launches himself, at least the first year

I don't like this at all and Im sure the majority of officials don't either. They will likely be pressured from their conference director to enforce this which will cause some questionable decisions.

For the safety of the sport, I understand why they are considering this. There is ample authority out there, much of it coming from research championed at WVU, which suggests that concussions can cause residual effects which don't show up now, but show up later in life well before general dementia would onset in a suspectible person. it is the mission of the sport, as it should be, to protect the health and safety of the player.

The effect of this rule is unfortunately to punish a team which has less depth. An Ohio State, or other top tier program, is more likely than say a WVU, year in and year out, to have a top flight replacement for an ejected player.

I don't have a problem with the rule. We can't place our own enjoyment above protection of a player. Look at the evolution of rules which protect the players, especially the quarterback, who is often defenseless, and you'll see the pendulum continues to swing toward safety.

It's a rule I can live with.

I do think the ejection call should be made by a referee who is in the replay booth.
