  • My pops was born in St. Louis and always rooted for the Cardinals.... so that's my team. I can't believe we're 43-39 right now. Need some more pitching (although Lynn looks back on after a couple rough outings).

But what I really can't believe is that we're three games behind the Pirates. The Pirates!

Votto has been insane. I don't think your offense can keep carrying the team the rest of the year. Eventually that lack of pitching will come back to bite ya!

  • Braves for sure, even in the 80's when they weren't very good!

  • I will be at the Cards/Reds game next Friday night. Hoping for another bench clearing brawl!

  • Lack of pitching? We have the number 1/2 bullpen in the NL and the starters are top 10 in the NL ... The offense has been atrocious at times year ... They need a leadoff hitter and the offense will really take off

  • Buccos! Grew up in Wheeling, an hour outside of Pittsburgh. Loyal even through the tough times (they haven't finished over .500 since I was 5). It is what it is. 10 games over .500 on the year with Cutch leading MLB in batting average.

That bullpen is lights out. Outside of Cueto, I feel like the other starters have been a bit disappointing, though.

Although now that I look at it, the other four starters all hover around the NL average in ERA. That's not too bad.

  • One thing thts scary to look at is votto philips and bruce all have a min. Of 47rbis with the 1-2 spots in the lineup owning a .250 ba and a obp of like .300 If they can get that lead off hitter this team will take off ... Or get a 4spot right handed bat to put inbetween votto and bruce and move philips back to leadoff ... Very scary team

  • Went back and looked and Cardinals have most runs scored in the National League (410), but their pitching is just average (4.00 compared to league average of 3.99).

That's amazing with Pujols gone and Berkman injured!

  • I wish billy Hamilton was ready for the big leagues I think he has 70 or 80 stolen bases in class a ball.....he is what they need at the top of the lineup

He will see the big leagues towards the end of ext season and be full time 2014

Oh and he has 100+ in just 80 games right now He will be in AA shortly after the allstar break

Cueto has one of the best ERAs in the bigs and Latos has 2 straight complete game victories and is pitching well again tonight through 3 ... Baily has been up and down and Leake seems to finally rounding into shape ... The best starter in spring training was by far Chapman and he wont see the rotation till next season

  • I love this team young pretty much across the board....but def would like to get a big right handed bat

  • The Cubs are my team and I am very excited about the future of this team with Theo Epstein leading the way. If they can just find some pitching prospects, they will be very good very soon. Anthony Rizzo, Starlin Castro, and recent signee Jorge Soler are the only ones getting me excited right now.

  • Yankees fan here that grew up in Martinsburg (Orioles country). I had the pleasure of watching Cueto and Votto up close and personal when I was a statistician for Baseball Solutions working the Chattanooga Lookout games. On a different note I love the chemistry of Harold Reynolds and Mitch Williams on MLB Network.

Id be surprised if castro is on the cubs much longer His bat is great but his defense has been worse then little league alot of times ... Kid has tremendous potential tho just hoe he can get it together cuz he can be a special player

I'm confident he will remain on the team for the remainder of year because of the new front office and their patience. Look what they did with Rizzo. He was dominating Triple A, but they waited until he was 100% ready for the MLB. And the funniest thing about Castro's defense is that when it's a tough out he gets it every time, but the easy outs cause him all kinds of trouble.

Going into play today he has 101 steals and only caught 21times ... Kid can flat out fly ... He is faster then Stubs who is widey reguarded as one of the fastest players in the NL ... He is batting .330 with a ops of around .420 He is the leadoff hitter of the future and prolly will see time at 2nd and shortstop with Cozart showing much promise and Philips maning 2nd so to make the team he will hve to split time at both

  • There was talk about him being Benched because of it with selvum not being to happy with him ... The Cubs front office went from being one of the worst last year to arguably one of if not the best this year
