  • That is classy of him but if it is so great here, why are these coaches leaving to take the same position at other schools?

  • Good luck to him and his family. I wish him much success. BUT we can do better. Whoever we get (Seider, etc.) will be a FLA recruiter along with Deforest.

All you people hate Deforest but Tom Landry couldn't win with our pathetic defense last year. He brought in Greaves which is going to be huge in our D and with Coach Mitchell and Gibson (even though I still hate the guy) and the amazing Coach Galloway, we are going to be better off. If Hyman can get qualified and kill QBs and LBs contribute early, we are going to have a very good defense by end year. You look at combine and UCONN has 3 to 4 kids on defense every year in the draft or signed as FAs. Our defense has been good one year in past 10...2007 when we had Dingle, Berry, Nield, Reed W., Mundy, Sands, Hogan. We got a pass rush in the Fiesta and see how good our CBs looked. Get a pass rush and we win.

We need a coach who wants to prove something. I think Seider is the one. They want to make their mark and prove they belong at a program like WVU. Gillespie was a UF guy and coached at Ok State and had an offer at UF early in his career. In his mind, he had already "made it." I want hungry coaches. I don't think Gillespie was hungry. Hungry coaches recruit their asses off.

  • Gillespie is a classy guy and I have no hard feeling towards him for leaving. Deep down, we all know that we are going to do what is best for ourselves and our families just like him. I wish him well in his future.

Our defense has only been done once in 10 years? Tell that to the 2010 defense that was top 5 in the country.

Agree. I have no problems with coaches leaving, as long as they do it in a respectable, professional manner. He did. Best of luck to him and his family.

  • Who did they play in 2010 who was so good? They got crushed in the bowl right? Yeah great defense that year against rutgers marshall and uconn.

that 2010 defense deserves ALOT of credit being on the field 75% of almost everygame ... the defense was no where near the reason we lost the bowl game, our offense was putrid at best

because they left for ELITE, highly-respected programs.

    WVU is NOT elite.

Let us dominate nationally for a decade or so and we'll recruit better and more folks will want to coach for us. Let us spank OU and TX three years in a row and produce a couple heisman winner, folks will take notice.

BB didn't "slam" us. he made an honest statement about the reality of recruiting at OU versus WVU.

It's like comparing WVU with Marshall in some top prospects minds. It's a reality.

We can beat Oklahoma, Marshall can't say the same about us.
