This one seems completely out of the blue. Disappointing, to me, but I don't see the appeal of UNC for football, at all. Oh well, doesn't hurt as bad as losing out on a good legacy recruit, or an in-state recruit, to them.
UNC picked up 3 4-star commits yesterday..UNBELIEVABLE!!!!
Ive said it over and over again. Elite kids primarily care about a relationship with the recruiting coach and the Number of Players that have been put in the NFL. Having a potent offense and winning Bowl Games matters, but not nearly as much as saying "we can put you in the league, look at our draft classes the last 5-10 years". Probations and Tragedies doesnt even scare the kids, see USC, Miami, Penn St, and UNC.
We need to get a couple of "difference makers" in the NFL and then we will compete for the highly touted guys. We will get a few here and there, but to consistently draw this kind of talent we need guys playing on Sundays(and not just a kicker).
Our competition is very good at what they do, the ACC schools in particular can sell,"their academics are bad, just look at how our conference gave them the stiff arm when they needed a new home, sure they are good in sports but eeesh!"(crap I know, especially seeing how schools like UNC have been giving away grades of late but again they are 17 yo kids so.. they buy it) and "your parents arent going to be able to go to their away games without flying out west, and in this economy ect.." and the one of "they dont play in Florida anymore, you wont get to play in front of your friends n family". Cant help but believe that those 3 type pitches are hurting us a lil right now.
