MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (March 13, 2013) – The West Virginia University volleyball team has announced its 2013 spring slate, which is highlighted by three tournaments and one match.
The Mountaineers opened spring practice on Monday, March 11 and will travel to Duke, Coastal Carolina and Virginia before hosting a final spring tournament at the WVU Coliseum on April 20.
"We've been working on building strength and speed through January and February as well as honing our individual skills on the court,” coach Jill Kramer says. “We kicked off our spring team training and will have a couple of weeks in the gym together before heading out to Duke to compete in a tournament there.”
Spring competition begins March 23 with a tournament at Duke, before the team travels to Charleston, S.C., for spring training camp at the College of Charleston. The Mountaineers will wrap up spring break with a match against Coastal Carolina on March 28 at 7 p.m.
WVU will stay on the road for a tournament at Virginia on April 13 before returning to Morgantown to face George Washington and Marshall in the Spring Fling at WVU on April 20. The Mountaineers will face off against the Colonials at noon before taking on the Thundering Herd at 5 p.m.
"The spring is about growth and development both individually and as a team,” coach Jill Kramer says. “One of the best things about coaching is watching your players realize their potential and so much of that takes place from the hard work the players put into the spring season. We have 11 players in the gym right now, so we can really get after it every day."
