Who is leading for the starting QB job right now? I assume Trickett is going to start but wanted to confirm that with you guys.
Will Childress see playing time regardless?
Still an open competition. All got equal reps at yesterdays practice.

Hard to tell at all. Race seems very even at this point. Everyone will have their own opinion on this.
I would say the one person people are forgetting is Millard. He has been in the system and has shown flashes of brilliance. He is not the popular option.
Trickett got run with "first team" during live practice that was open to media yesterday, but all three got equal reps and the second time through, Childress was with "first team."
Wouldn't surprise me if the post-fall camp depth chart had a bunch of "ORs" on it rather than listing them 1-2-3

We might have some "ors" at some positions, but I don't think QB will be one of them. Holgorsen made it clear he likes to name a starter at QB, and not co-starters. At least that's what he said he's always done before.
If the race is really this close, a coin flip could be in order. It would be as good a way to do it as any I can think of. In other words, it doesn't matter who starts if they're all this close. I wish one guy would step up and take it.
Pain is inevitable. Suffering is optional !
I think the reasons most fans aren't high on Millard is the same reason Holgersen has criticized him at times. Flashes of brilliance, yes, but also some really poor decision making. It's clear to me that whoever we have at QB will need to manage the offense as much as lead it, and I worry if Millard would try to take too much onto his shoulders.
From watching the Spring Game & the limited clips of summer camp, Millard made some really bad reads & was a step to slow. Childress has a much bigger arm & can make up for being slower in his reads as he isnt as comfortable in the offense as Paul is. Trickett is the real wild card here. What limited bit I have seen of him, I dont think he has the accuracy to make all the throws. He provides the best mobility of the group, but is also the smallest of the trio and I dont know if he could take the beating if the o-line doesn't hold up in pass blocking.
Great stuff gwinn!!
My question with all of them is accuracy. This isnt an offense that requires mobility or arm strength. It is basically whoever can make the best decision and then throw screen passes and 10yd routes on time and accurately. From what I saw in the spring I am concerned with the accuracy of our QB's. Haven seen enough of Trickett to comment on his pass placement.
Great info guys. Please keep this thread updated with anything you hear as the QB competition develops.
I think there will be multiple QBs in game 1 with Trickett starting. He will then be given his chance to prove himself against OU as I just don't see Ford being thrown into the fire. If Trickett shines, He continues to start. If he flops, Ford will be the starter against GSU.
