I agree Adam. I really like the fact he is a native of W.V. an also coming from a good school like Stanford.
I like it. He is a West Virginia guy and has helped Stanford build some great O lines over recent years. I know we don't use tight ends much but Stanford has had good TE 's recently too. He coached at Harvard and Stanford so he knows that while recruiting that he needs to talk about academics (Tyler Boyds Mom).
If he is good enough for Stanford he is good enough for me...Especially if he is a WV native...I like the idea...the dude even looks like an OL coach.
He is from Parkersburg and Is very well thought of
If he is from Parkersburg, you know he's tough......jus' sayin'
Stanford and Harvard...pretty good schools. If he can recruit to those two schools, he can recruit anywhere. Both programs have been successful and their academics are at the top of the "A"-list.
It doesn't look like he did any recruiting at Stanford. His name is not listed as the recruiter for any of the 2012 or 2013 recruits and his name doesn't show up on this link.
I like this part. A local guy that maybe will stick around a bit and build something.
Great hire! I'm pumped!
I don't think his resume is weak. Just because he coached Ivy league and smaller schools doesn't mean he didn't do a fine job- which he did.
It sounds pretty unanimous. Chris, go ahead and call Ollie and tell him he has our approval on this hire.
Pain is inevitable. Suffering is optional !
I like where you are going with this +1!
Indeed and the fact that he did such a good job at those schools and at different levels shows the guy knows how to coach 'em up. With having a limited base to draw from considering how high the academic standards were at Harvard and Stanford just think what he has the potential to do with BCS o-line recruits who don't neccessarily qualify for those schools. And I'm not saying anything bad about any of those kids but the athletic pool of talent across the country is loaded with big time players who don't qualify academically for those institutions. If this comes to fruition I am extremely optimistic about Coach Crook.

Stanford TE Zach Ertz on Ron Crook. "If he gets the job at WVU, they're getting a hell of a coach."
He's a fellow South grad. Go River Rats!
I take back what i said about this being a great hire then
kidding, of course
Me too.....wrong side of the river :), but I guess I can overlook it just this once.
