Too many outside influences getting to him; writing this one off....for the second time.
However, I'm not sweating his decision too hard. For anyone who is, I suggest you remember a few weeks back when it looked like we would be missing out on both Boyd AND Gibson....now, we have Gibson looking as solid as any of our recruits (publicly advocating for WVU re: Boyd; communicating heavily with current/future WVU players on twitter), as well as a strong shot at Alford. Combined with the rest of the WR recruits, I believe this will be a great class despite where Boyd eventually ends up.
I really hope we can get Alford.
What keeps me going. WVU Football and Alaskan Wild Salmon
I really feel for this kid. I hope he's able to make the most of his time at Pitt and wish him all the best.
Well, I'm not the "I told you so" type. Besides, we are basically debating how many angels can dance on the head of a pin. I don't have too much confidence that he will come here. All I am saying is that, if he doesn't sign on LOI day, it could be a good sign, as opposed to a bad one. He could wait and still end up making Momma happy.
I really can't recall an instance of a parent being this down on our school (and happy to let everybody know) in a long time. We should all maybe go on radio silence where she is concerned, until after this one is over.
Radio silience isnt going to help in this case. She has it in for us for whatever reason. An not to be a Negative Nancy, but Tenn. may be the lucky contestant in the Tyler Boyd sweepstakes. He picked Pitt an apparently isnt happy with that decision. He likes WVU but momma would throw a fit. So that leaves Tenn. who is in the SEC an would be an escape from all the pressures of momma, family, friends, an coaches. I have said from the start we will not get this guy an I stick by that. I wish him the best an hope he makes himself happy first an foremost.
I'm still waiting for the in home on Friday and it's potential effect. Just because the official didn't help doesn't mean the in home won't. That lady sounds tough as nails - a good quality for a Mom. Bold prediction, Gibby and Lonnie knock one out of the park and he flips before signing day. Don't criticize my optimism
Some people think football is a matter of life or death, but it's far more important than that.
This is a classic case of "mama knows best" and you better not disrespect me. By those quotes alone it is clear to me he will be going to Pitt. I hope I'm wrong but at the same time, I highly doubt it.
Montani Semper Liberi
Do any of you remember last year I don't recall who it was at one of these All-American games that one of the kids announced his choice and the mother was stunned and visibly upset with his choice. Maybe we will have another one of these scenarios!
If his mom wasn't pressuring him, he would be a mountaineer. But she is so he stays at Pitt. She's never going to let him go to wvu. I'm really curious to what Tyler's head coach said to her that made her throw up " red flags "
YES! Landon Collins, went to Bama but his mother wanted LSU
hopefully exactly that scenario, because he did end up at Bama

This will be Dana and Boyd on Friday.
Yea you are referring to when Landon Collins picked Bama over LSU. Lol yea momma was MAD!
Theres the link to the Landon Collins decision. I was just thinking about that as I was reading the posts.
I wouldnt mind seeing him pick us even if it meant his mom was unhappy with the decision. Shes his mother and shell get over it. haha
Yea so mom is academics first and is a heavy influence yet Duke ( who would fall all over themselves to have him) Vandy , or even UVA aren't in the final mix? Me thinks someone has been drinking from the sPitt Kool Aid again...

Is his mom the only one who can sign the letter of intent?
Problem is, we didn’t know what we were doing either. But when we didn’t know what we were doing, we were pretty good at it…..
Has to be a pitt guy through and through- no matter what he says.
Hes one of the few.
I'm not a bit upset with his mother. Sounds more to me like a case of her head being filled with crap by folks with an agenda. Namely local coaches and media who obviously have an agenda- getting the guy to pitt. I'm sure she believes what she says, cause she doesn't know any better. She's never been to WVU. All she knows is what people she thinks she can trust tell her.
I've given up on him. It wouldn't surprise me one bit to see him end up at Tennessee. Seems obvious that pitt is being forced on him. They are all against him coming to WVU. But, they can't take that stance with Tennessee, because then their agenda would be too obvious.
If Boyd's Mom is that controlling, I hope he does what HE wants to do. It would be better than being miserable for 4 years wondering what if, just to make her happy. He better mature enough to break those strings, so to speak, or he's going to be miserable her whole life !
I'd almost bet you if he does end up at Pitt, he won't stay long enough to graduate. Even Ray Charles could see what the young man wants to do.
Pain is inevitable. Suffering is optional !
as a fellow pittsburgh kid who chose WVU over the "hometown" school, I'm really starting to feel bad for him. My parents aren't from WPA, and didn't care where I went, but as a high school kid in the WPIAL you are completely stigmatized if you choose WVU. Everyone expects you to go to Pitt, or even more likely Penn State, and if you don't then its an ultimate betrayal picking WVU to your community since they are all Pitt/PSU fans. I obviously wasn't an athlete, but there were plenty of peers, teachers, parents, and community members that were disappointed or gave me endless hell about choosing WVU. Of course it was the best decision of my life, and now I'm the one laughing at 90+ % of the other kids that I went to high school with. The future of this university and my own are bright, and I sincerely hope this kid does whats best for HIMSELF, not everyone else.

I'm not sure what school you went to but there wasn't any type of scrutiny at my school(North Allegheny) as to what college I went to(or any other athlete). Whether it be WVU, Pitt, PSU or anyone else. i don't think there are enough Pitt fans in Pittsburgh to even give scrutiny.
I think its only like that when your family and close people around you are Pitt fans that what you are talking about happens.

Friday night could be interesting. Would love to hear that conversation. My feeling is Rawlins, and Gibson continue to fight for him and he commits to WVU. If not we will be OK, He just gives our new class a bump in the ratings.
