I don't have a paid account so I can't read the whole story.
Oh, and more good news from yesterday. Travis Bell beat up his girlfriend.
Montani Semper Liberi
Well not the way I wanted to start the day
always fun to be a WVU fan...
Bill King (Sirius) calls this knuclehead season
Never a dull moment is there lol.
It's not right tuning into King and hearing him talk about basketball.
So he had Bruce's id?
I'm surprised Bruce is already 21
Fan site contains articles, photos, message board and games for not official West Virginia football.
Some people think football is a matter of life or death, but it's far more important than that.
Also worth noting that Joseph was below the legal limit for anyone over the age of 21. Blew a .05 according to the news.
Considering he has no priors that we know if, it's not the end of the world for the kid.
Childress blew a .17 and he stayed on the team.
I'm thinking an ass chewing from Holgs, double secret probation, and maybe sitting out the spring game.

Yeah, I don't think Joseph's punishment will be that bad. Bell on the other hand......
I agree. Joseph's situation is more along the lines of bad judgement.
Beating up your girlfriend isn't a judgement issue. It's a behavioral issue.
Well that sucks. Sounds like he had half a beer and drove. Bell's situation is remarkably worse. I'm sure no one has the details but that kind of stuff is unacceptable, if true. Certainly conduct unbecoming of a mountaineer.
On a side not I was upset yesterday because of the slow news day. I'll take the slow news day again, please...
Underage drinking on a college campus?!? O. M. G!!! Bell? Well we will see who is guilty and who is not, I recall people ready to see Bruce Irvin thrown in jail a lil while back yet... All was well in the end so, lets wait n see.
I am hoping we will hear something, about Bell, to put that in a better light. However, there was a witness and it doesn't sound good. Our opinions are always subject to change, though, if new info comes out!
Agree that Joseph's incident is no big deal.
Karl just did what most college students since the dawn of higher education have done - hope he learns from it. Bell, on the other hand, can get the hell outta my alma mater and go back to the Muck of Belle Glade and chop sugar cane for the rest of his life as far as I'm concerned (barring credible info that refutes the report). Alpha Mike Foxtrot.
I still have no idea how someone with a .05 BAC fails two sobriety tests. We're not talking about a 100lb woman. Joseph is not a very small man. Also, a 19 year old kid who works out religiously probably has a sky high metabolism. When I was a 19 year old PFC in the Corps, I was shredded and ate Papa Johns in my barracks room 4 nights a week.
I have a hard time believing that he is that much of a lightweight.
Not going to say anything else, but I don't think it's very hard to read between the lines.

To follow that up, it was 2 45 in the morning and he "smelled of alcohol" and had bloodshot eyes. I dunno about you guys but when I have a beer with dinner I don't smell of alcohol and I especially don't have bloodshot eyes
First off....OORAH Devil Dog! I had many of those barracks nights with pizza and beer. With Joseph, it isn't about failing a sobriety test. If you are underage, they do not need to fail a sobriety test. If they smell alcohol, they have the right to administer a breathalyzer. I went through that shit in NC when stationed at Cherry Point. I had not drank a drop though. They smelled alcohol in the car though cause my passengers were plastered.
I know the newspaper said he failed the sobriety test, did he?
Sobriety tests are designed to make sober people fail. It's just a way to determine probable cause for breathalizing. For instance, go beyond the legal driving limit and touch your nose. I would imagine you have no problem (otherwise you really shouldn't drive). It's subjective and if they say you fail it's your word against their's.
I know it's a moot point but Robert Sands destroyed the passenger side of my friend's truck in his metallic purple hooptie (drunk) and he dipped right after we snapped a photo of his insurance card. Good news for him: his mom's name was on the insurance card, not his. He got lucky, like many people often do.
We all make silly mistakes, KJ got caught. But as and educator I hope there's a lesson learned: taxis are cheaper than DUI classes.

Didnt see what he blew, glad to know it wasnt bad, just a poor decision, slap on the wrist hopefully and back on the field for spring practice.
I was at Cherry Point from 2005-2009. Small world.
It is a small world. I was there from 97-99, 01-02, and 10-12. I just left there the end of December.
Oh I understand. Been around law enforcement for many years. I know the field sobriety test are subjective, but is the newspaper article the only info that we have?
