Hey, just stopping by to see what the general consensus was on Tyler Boyd. Do you guys think you have a pretty good shot or no?
I personally hope you do get him. I always root for WVU as a lot of my family are fans. It would be great for you guys to land him, and even better to pull him from Pitt.
I feel we have a 30/70 shot a flipping him, so I guess I feel he stays with Pitt
Same as eerfan05 for me. I think he really wants to come to WVU but can't back out of his commitment. If he didn't commit to Pitt on national television, I think he'd be a WVU commit. Not anymore.
From what I've been reading, I also think his mom has A LOT of say in this. I think if not for his mom, he would be a WVU commit. I think he is worried about what his mom will say and think.
Thanks stopping by...I'd guess 30% of a flip...I think if he hadn't already verballed, our chances would be above 50%.
According to an article in the paper, our coaches didn't touch base with his Mom...Apparently that was completely untrue, but we did mess up in some fashion with her. We have an in-home this week, so as long as that stays on schedule, we'll have a puncher's shot at repairing that relationship & flipping him.
I think if it was solely his choice, he wouldn't be able to say no to the opportunities our offense will provide to a WR...He has a ton of pressure on him to stay home though.
Spot on Chuck! I agree
I think it just boils down to he come down an got a free meal an to hang out with the guys for a weekend. I do think he would like to come here now, but waited to long in the process to decide that. Like Rhino says with the in home coming up we have a punchers chance though.
And I disagree with this. He had early interest in us. His mother is in his ear and it's not a bad thing to listen to your mother. It's close to home. I think the free meal and a chance to hang out with his friends has him telling his moms that hey I'd like to go there. If HE can convince her we have him. If she convinces him than he stays home. Great process, he took his visits and we'll see how it goes. I hold no animosity over a guy for sacrificing his own wants or needs for those of his family.

Only the dead have seen the end of war -Plato
I know I'm a homer, but this really makes me scratch my head. TB is a WR...and his mom would have to want him to have aspirations of playing in the NFL...so what offense is going to produce 2 top 3 round WR draft picks this year? It's WVU plain and simple??? Someone please help me here??
Not only us big guy....we were lucky as hell in landing the guys that are going early but other schools have top flight wr's as well. Don't forget the system they played in. Bama doesn't have a system like us but they produce big time WR's as well. I think alot of guys who play in a system similar to ours are considered system guys and their draft stock falls until the combine. Honestly the best WR's this system produces have been slot guys.
Oh I know what you mean exactly. But to a program like Pitt that runs three yards and a cloud if dust offense on a crappy field that get 25k at best to a game...I just don't get it???
And BTW...the NFL is changing fast...the prototype NFL offense is getting more and more pass happy!
I believe I read somewhere he has an in-home visit coming up. Would be very interesting after that.
As has been stated .. things change Paul Chryst isn't an offensive slouch. They are not going to be the same team as last yr. or yrs. before b/c of the coaching change. If they promise him the ball with their shitty receiving corps he's gonna get a chance to catch it. Hre we don't have the proven receiver anymore but we do have kids who have been in the system and a solid WR class coming in. Does he want to PROVE he's a star?
Biggest blockage seems to be his mom. I'm hoping the home visit by the coaches can convince her to change the negative attitude about WVU.
Either way, I have no issues to where he picks. Just think he is a better fit in our scheme vs Pitt. Our scheme specializes in WRs/QBs.
I've said this as well too.
He's under BIG PRESSURE to be Pitt's local HERO.

Would love to have him but chances are about 5%. If mamma is so dead set on him to go to sPitt, then he is going to sPitt.
We should refrain for making these type of comments.
Yea....This helps things.
Would be great if Boyd flips but if he doesn't we will be alright I think Gibson and White will be a good duo on the field hopefully we can add Alford to the mix as well and we will have a fantastic WR corps next year. Now who will be the qb next season?
Wasn't me this time LOL!!!!
