I think he has spent too much time at other schools to be wowed or flip. The biggest concern was Ohio St., and he has already been there. He seems to be very calculated, and I think he wants to be a Mountaineer. He can see that we will be loosing some guys next year, and will get the chance to play right away, and could be an instant star.

I should have said early playing time instead of right away, although I could legitimately see him getting on the field as a redshirt freshman if he hits the weight room.

That could be possible depending on the depth and quality of next years line. However the new regime still prefers to redshirt their lineman to give them a yr. to grasp the system. Personally I like the way they handle their young lineman. 1 redshirt yr. to learn the schematics and get stronger is a very good and very smart approach.

According to some Buckeye posters they were told that he tried to commit to them on his visit, but OSU would not accept his verbal this early...FWIW? Michigan guys were saying something along similar lines. Given the great class Michigan has thus far and their actual numbers, I could actually believe that one.

Definitely agree AK. There will always be the fans/posters that deflect and say a certain kid did not have a commitable offer if they happen to miss on a prospect. So I always kind of take it with a grain of salt. Was a little curious about this one however...considering some of the guys that mentioned it are generally good posters and are pretty level headed without the over the top homerism you sometimes see. Also his glowing comments following the visit...and them mentioning it came from a staff writer.... Again no way of knowing for sure unless the recruit comes out and confirms it.
I am just pleased to have him on board even if we were or were not his first choice...and hopefully keep him.
