A Big Bunch Of BS....

  • Not really a rant as much as it is bewilderment. Why isn't the Coliseum rocking EVERY home game? We have a great basketball team, a legendary coach and a nice atmosphere. Albeit I'd like to see us build a new one but that's here nor there. We try and woo all of these young athletes to come to our university and every1 is all up in arms excited over getting them but once we do we seem to not support them as much as we need to. Recruits watch games on tv. If I were a recruit and I watched last nights game with that zombified crowd....I would not come to WVU. It happens in football at times as well but not as much. I think it sucks and I don't blame Huggins or Holgorsen for bitching about fan support. If this keeps up I wouldn't be surprised to see either of them leave.

  • I know this is more of an overall complaint, but even UNC and other top programs have thousands of empty seats for an Akron game on a Monday night at 7

  • You can't blame the students for the basketball crowds they seem to always show up for them I just do not get it. This passive fan base both students and general admission is starting to really bug me its not golf people get out of your recliners at home, get up here, and cheer your heart out for our teams.

eh, they only have about 9000 seats so it's hard not to fill and the noise really gets trapped in. Also, on TV, you only ever see the student section.

I hate duke so you'll have to deal with my irrational biased spin ;)

But in all seriousness, I didn't realize just how low our attendance was. No sugarcoating those numbers

  • To play devil's advocate, I don't think you can expect people to turn out for a game on a Tuesday morning at 10am. I know that's only one game, and I know it'd still be full at Kentucky or Duke, but we're not them and we're never going to be them.

I agree that the attendance needs to be higher, but they need to think a little more when they do the schedule. No one is coming to that game, period.

And about the "cheering your heart out", go to the Coliseum, stand and cheer and see how many old people tell you to sit down and stop. Happens all the time.

  • I wish they would put the student section on the other side and show them on tv. I know we can be rowdy but I would sure like to see them on tv instead of a bunch of people sitting there with a blank stares who only clap and cheer when we draw a charge or shoot a 3 granted there are some who get into it over there but not too many. Our student section has already been labeled as crazy, wild, and unruly. I would hope that if they would give us a chance to be the face of our program like almost every other school does in basketball we could control ourselves and prove that we can be good kids.

  • bring them to charelston almost 11000 for the morehead st game and marshall is always a sellout i think they should bring a couple games down to charleston especially the dec big east games when the students are gone big east game in charleston diff would sell out at christmas time like to see 2 or 3 more games here and sell a min package here in chas if the morgantowm crowd doesnt want to watch one of the top coaches in the country charleston will

Lol... I made it down to the Lville game last year. It was my first bball game at wvu & had a blast. I cheering like crazy & definitly got some annoyed looks. I'm all for respecting my elders, but when I've spent my hard earned money on Stub Hub & made a 3 1/2 hr drive, I'm going to enjoy it.

  • Your right!! Holler away!!

    JOEP

  • From a students perspective it's just been difficult lately. I made it to the home opener and watched all the other games on T.V. but I don't think students are the one to blame on this one. I know we don't sell out all the student tickets but I think it's more general admission on this one. I think after the way we played against Akron and the schedule starting to become tougher you can expect a larger crowd. Don't take this the wrong way either because if it were up to me I'd be at every game, born and raised WVU
