Williams Gives WVU Eight

Zaire Williams

Williams' has built a good relationship with future position coach, Robert Gillespie.

As expected, Timber Creek (NJ) running back Zaire Williams has committed to West Virginia. The three-star, 85-rated prospect chose the Mountaineers over offers from Wisconsin, Pittsburgh, Iowa and more.

Williams made his first trip to Morgantown back in April for the Gold-Blue Game. While the weather was dreary, the visit resulted in great news for the 5-foot-11, 188 pound back: he received a West Virginia offer. Almost immediately, the Mountaineer players got in on the recruitment of Williams.

"I talked with Geno [Smith] and Tavon [Austin], Shawne Alston and Stedman Bailey," he told EerSports. "They just told me that if I went to WVU, I would love it."

Williams returned to Morgantown for the 7-on-7 camp in June and won the championship with his Timber Creek (NJ) squad. He immediately set up an official visit for the September 1st season opener against Marshall.

That visit didn't just open up the door for a future visit, though, as he was quick to note that it might have been what put the Mountaineers over the top.

"Oh, [this trip] puts them at the top of my schools," Williams said in a video interview with EerSports at the time.

EerSports will have more from Williams and Timber Creek (NJ) head coach Rob Hinson for our VIP members shortly.
