West Virginia (7-5) has rattled off three straight wins and hopes to add a fourth as they begin Big 12 Conference play this afternoon against Oklahoma (9-3). The game will be shown live on WQCW and MASN in their respective areas (see details HERE). For those outside the viewing areas, it will be shown on ESPN3.com and WatchESPN. Tip is set for 4:00PM ET.
Here are three keys to a Mountaineer victory today.
1. Man Up In The Paint - The Sooners dominated West Virginia down low in their earlier meeting in the Old Spice Classic. Oklahoma outscored WVU, 32-20, in the paint. They were also able to outrebound WVU, 38-36, despite the fact that OU is ranked 96th in the nation in rebounding and WVU is ranked 55th.
2. Man Up In The Clutch - In the last matchup, West Virginia held the lead with less than six minutes to play, but only made 3-of-11 from the field and 2-of-5 from the line after that, as they were outscored 15-7 down the stretch. On the flip side, Oklahoma made their last 11 free throws to seal the game.
3. Man Up In The Stands - Yep, this one is for the fans. Despite abysmal attendance up to this point, West Virginia is 5-0 in the Coliseum this year, while Oklahoma was a horrendous 1-8 in conference road games last season. The fans will need to be rowdy today.
