After handing Virginia Tech their first loss for their third win in a row, West Virginia heads just north to Pittsburgh to take on 5-4 Duquesne. The game kicks off at 7:00PM, but here are three keys to the game for the Mountaineers to emerge victorious over the Dukes.
1. Win the rebounding battle - West Virginia is 24th in the country in rebounds per game with 42, but Duquesne is just behind them in 26th, averaging 40.9. WVU would like to have a bigger margin than that in order to impose their will on the smaller Dukes - no one over 6-foot-7 plays more than 11 minutes per game.
2. Keep Sean Johnson out of the lane - The speedy Johnson is the Dukes leading scorer, averaging 12.9 points per game. However, he only shoots 31% from beyond the arc, as most of his damage comes from driving to the basket. He also gets the free throw line a lot and knocks 'em down when he does (83%).
3. Push the tempo and attack the basket - Basically, be aggressive. Duquesne only truly has a seven man rotation and plays passive in order to not draw fouls. WVU can force the issue and either get easy baskets or get the Dukes' best players off the court.
