Three Keys and Game Thread - TTU

West Virginia (12-12, 5-6) stumbled and bumbled their way out of a losing streak on Wednesday, but are looking to rebound against Texas Tech (9-13, 2-9) this afternoon. The Mountaineers went down to Lubbock two Saturdays ago and handled their business, 77-61, and the home crowd is looking for something similar.

The game is set for a 4:00PM ET tip and will be televised on Big12 Network affiliates (including MASN), as well as and WatchESPN apps.

Here are three keys to a Mountaineer victory today.

1. Pressure the Ball - West Virginia shot 56.5% from the field and 55.6% from beyond the arc in the last contest. I don't expect that to happen again, but one way to get some easy points is to cause turnovers - and Texas Tech is prone to giving the ball away. Two Saturdays ago, WVU forced 21 Red Raider turnovers. They'll be looking for a similar number today.

2. Pass With a Purpose - Something Bob Huggins touched on after Wednesday night's game, but the motion offense does not work if you are, well, just going through the motions. Players need to look for cutters, because teammates have been open. However, in last night's game - and all season long - several Mountaineers have pre-determined where they are passing the ball to, costing the team opportunities for easier shots.

3. Rebound With a Passion - In the last contest, West Virginia won the rebounding margin, but by only three boards. Texas Tech is one of the worst teams in the entire country in rebounding, ranking 214th in the nation. The Mountaineers should not simply be pleased with winning the battle, but should be looking to dominate it.
