Weeks after telling EerSports that West Virginia was his likely future destination, Dunbar (MD) guard Daxter Miles gave his verbal commitment to the Mountaineers on Saturday.
Miles had numerous reasons for picking WVU.
"The coaches were just like, 'if you really want it, then do it; go ahead and commit,'" said the 6-foot-2, 190-pound senior. "They were supporting me the whole time and I just feel like that's the right place for me."
The unwavering support was not the only reason Miles pledged to West Virginia, though. The three-star prospect says there were too many reasons to count.
"Because of the tradition and just the feeling I get around the school," he said when asked to elaborate on his decision. "They got the new practice facility, too, and West Virginia has some diehard fans, man. And Bob Huggins' offense. He's just all toughness."
What had been holding Miles up for sometime looked to be his grades. That issue has still not been resolved, but the newest Mountaineer says he "feel(s) confident."
"I haven't gotten them back, yet, but I get them on June 10th or 15th," he said. "I'm going to sign as soon as I get them or the day after."
If he does sign, Miles would report to Morgantown at the start of July.
