- The football team has an all-time record of 3-6. In 1938, West Virginia defeated Texas Tech, 7-6, in the Sun Bowl. Harry Clarke ran for 132 yards, but it was Davey Isaac that scored the Mountaineers lone touchdown. The Red Raiders scored one of their own shortly after, but WVU blocked the extra point and held on to win.

- The basketball team has an all-time record of 0-4. In 2011, Truck Bryant scored 25 and Kevin Jones added 17, but Jae Crowder (29 points) led Marquette to victory over the Mountaineers, 79-74.
