- In 1977, Anthony Becht was born. In four seasons, the tight end caught 83 passes for 1,178 yards and 11 touchdowns. He was then drafted in the first round by the New York Jets in the 2000 NFL Draft. He's played every year since, but is currently looking for a roster spot this fall.
- In 1956, former basketball player Maurice "Mo" Robinson was born. Over four years he averaged 12.4 points and 8.4 rebounds. He is still in the Top 25 in Mountaineer history in points (1,307, 24th) and rebounds (881, 9th).
