- In 2005, former running back Jetavious Best committed to West Virginia. Best made his way to Morgantown, but never accumulated stats in an official game.
- In 1981, former guard Jonathan Hargett was born. He came to Morgantown as one of the highest recruited players in Mountaineer history and averaged 13.8 points, 4.6 assists and 2.8 rebounds his freshman year. However, along with his on-court skills, Hargrett also brought with him numerous NCAA violations and was banned from WVU athletics after that season.
