- In 1958, former punter Curt Carion was born. Carion lettered for the Mountaineers from 1978-1980 and, in his senior season, averaged over 42 yards a punt.

- In 1960, former offensive guard Mike Durrette was born. He lettered two years for the Mountaineers in 1980 and 1981.
