- In 1970, former defensive tackle Jim Gray was born. Gray suited up for the Mountaineers from 1988 through 1991, compiling 162 tackles (18 for loss), 13 sacks and three forced fumbles.
- In 1980, another former defensive tackle was born. William Perry was in Morgantown from 1998 through 2000, but only made his way into the stat book that final season. He finished with 15 tackles, three sacks and two forced fumbles.
