On This Date:
- In 1977, former defensive back Perlo Bastien was born. The cornerback was a terror all four years in Morgantown, finishing with 118 tackles, 24 pass breakups and 13 interceptions.
- In 1981, dual-threat quarterback Rasheed Marshall was born. He was Pat White before there was Pat White,finishing with 5,558 passing yards and 45 touchdown passes along with another 2,040 rushing yards and 24 more scores.
- In 1974, All-Big East linebacker Gary Stills was born. Suiting up for the Mountaineers from 1996 through 1998, Stills finished with 159 tackles, 26 sacks and four forced fumbles in only three seasons. He then had a ten-year NFL career, being named to the Pro Bowl in 2003.
- In 2010, quarterback Brian Athey committed to West Virginia. He lost out on the backup quarterback job to Paul Millard and then transferred to Illinois State.
- In 2005, linebacker Anthony Leonard committed to West Virginia. In his four-year college career, Leonard compiled 165 tackles, four pass break ups, two and a half sacks and an interception.
