- The basketball team has an all-time record of 18-16. In 2001, West Virginia jumped out to a big lead, but needed a runner from Tim Lyles with 18 seconds left to defeat Pittsburgh, 69-68. Lyles led the team with 17 points and Calvin Bowman finished with a double-double, tallying 12 points and 12 rebounds.
