Morning Mashup - 12/20

Your morning look back, around the headlines and into the future.

On This Date:

- The basketball team has an all-time record of 13-3. In 1997, Damian Owens led the team with 24 points, eight rebounds, five assists and eight steals, as West Virginia defeated No. 20 Georgia in Atlanta, 86-81. Greg Jones added 17 points and Brian Lewin put up a double-double with 11 points and 11 rebounds.

- In 1976, former forward Elton Scott was born. A junior college transfer and former Kentucky Mr. Basketball, Scott only played significant minutes for one season. That one year, 1999, was impressive, though, as he averaged 15.3 points, 6.3 rebounds, 3.8 assists and 2.7 steals per game.
