- The basketball team has an all-time record of 8-8. In 1994, P. G. Greene scored 28 points and Marsalis Basey added 26 to help West Virginia defeat St. Joseph's, 97-83.
- In 1960, former guard Vic Herbert was born. The Logan, WV native played in 79 games during his career, primarily as a reserve, and averaged 3.2 points per game.
- In 2002, linebacker Ben Clemmons committed to West Virginia. Two years later, running back Marcus Platt did the same, although neither started a game in Morgantown.
