Your morning look back, around the headlines and into the future.

On This Date:

- The basketball team has an all-time record of 14-6. In 2003, Drew Schifino hit a three with a minute left to send it to overtime, and Patrick Beilein and J.D. Collins combined for 11 points in the extra period to defeat Duquesne, 88-84. Schifino finished with a game-high 29 points.

- In 1972, former shooting guard Lawrence Pollard was born. Pollard averaged 5.7 points, two rebounds and two assists in his first two years on campus and was expected to take over a starting role the following year. However, on his way back from Easter break, he was involved in a car accident on I-68. He sat out the next year before returning for his junior and senior seasons.
