- The football team has an all-time record of 8-6-2. In 2000, Avon Cobourne led the Mountaineers to a 31-24 overtime victory over Rutgers. Cobourne rushed for 117 yards and a touchdown, while Rick Sherrod led the team with nine tackles, recovered a fumble and picked off a pass.
- The basketball team has an all-time record of 1-0. Last year, the 'Eers defeated Oral Roberts 78-71 to open their season. Kevin Jones led the way with 20 points and eight rebounds.
