On This Date:
- The basketball team has an all-time record of 18-11. In 1979, West Virginia blew a 17-point lead, but pulled out an 83-82 victory over Virginia Tech. Lowes Moore led the way with 34 points.
- In 2011, Paul Millard committed to West Virginia. The Flower Mound native has served as Geno Smith's backup the last two seasons, completing 16-of-34 passes with three touchdowns and three interceptions.
- In 2005, Steve Slaton committed to West Virginia. In three seasons, he rushed for 3,923 yards, added 805 receiving yards and scored 55 total touchdowns. He was named a 2006 Consensus All-American and was ultimately drafted in the third round of the 2008 NFL Draft.
