On Saturday morning, Champagnat Catholic (FL) safety Isaac McDonald gave his verbal pledge to recruiting coach Robert Gillespie and West Virginia over his other finalists South Carolina, Arkansas, Ole Miss and Oregon.
"I want to commit to West Virginia University," McDonald told EerSports early this morning. "I've told one of the coaches and I'm waiting on them to get back to me."
The "okay" came a little bit later and the 6-foot-6, 205-pound prospect became the ninth commitment for the Mountaineers.
McDonald, a one time Clemson commit, told admitted in a previous interview that WVU was the school for him.
"WVU will always be my favorite school. Robert Sands is my idol. I watched him two years ago and told myself I want to be just like him. When I got the offer from WVU, they were the only school to tell me they were sure I was going to play safety in college.”
On Friday night, though, the three-star prospect was nowhere near a college decision. By Saturday morning, he was committed to his "favorite school."
