Edwards Pulls The Trigger

West Virginia has received their 15th commitment in the 2013 Class with a commitment from Blinn College (TX) offensive lineman Tyler Edwards.

"We just talked [about 9:30PM] and he was about to call the coaches, ready to commit," said Edwards' father, Vince.

The father-son combo made their way to Morgantown this past weekend and it resulted in a committable offer.

"[Coach Bedenbaugh] was about 99.9% sure that Tyler had an offer, but he needed to just make sure with Coach Holgorsen first," said the elder Edwards. "He couldn't pin him down that night because of everything going on, but he eventually did and talked with Tyler and confirmed it."

Once that was out of the way, it didn't take long for Edwards to pull the trigger. The first reason for his choice had a lot to do with the two aforementioned coaches, Bill Bedenbaugh and Dana Holgorsen.

"Obviously the coaching staff is a big plus," said Edwards. "They're pretty good guys and they really know their football."

Another factor was the the opportunity to play right away.

"They're going to be losing a couple guys and they talked with him about the opportunity to move right in and keep starting," he said. "Tyler can play center, tackle or guard...he doesn't care where."

Along with the academic aspect - which Mr. Edwards said was a huge hit with him as a parent - the family was also impressed with the atmosphere they witnessed in Morgantown on Saturday.

"The the fan base is bar none," he said. "They love them some Mountaineer football and that's a big thing, too."
